Ocarinas

Three ocarinas

We feature accurately pitched and tuned sweet potato ocarinas. A Sweet Potato Ocarina is a traditional style vessel flute which was developed in Budrio, Italy in 1853 and then became popular in the United States around 1900. We feature them in three different size. The photo to the right shows the size comparison. The largest is the tenor version. The middle sized one is the alto version. The smallest is the soprano version. Click on any image to see a larger version (Note: the image opens in a separate window).

SOPRANO SWEET POTATO OCARINA (9 hole, Key of F)

Soprano Sweet Potato Ocarina

The smallest size (Soprano) has a cheery higher pitched sound. It is a nice portable size, works well for hands of all sizes, and is a good beginner's ocarina. Plays 17 notes.

Soprano (5" x 2.75"), Colors: Blue (#S2-BL), Brown (#S2-BR), $37.00.

ALTO SWEET POTATO OCARINA (9 hole, Key of C)

Alto Sweet Potato Ocarina

The mid-size (Alto) is our most popular size. It works well for hands of all sizes and is a good beginner's ocarina. It has a nice mellow mid-range sound and is the same pitch as the ocarina in the "Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time". Plays 17 notes.

Alto (6" x 3.25"), Colors: Blue (#S3-BL), Brown (#S3-BR), $42.00.

TENOR SWEET POTATO OCARINA (9 hole, Key of F - 1 octave lower than Soprano F)

Tenor Sweet Potato Ocarina

The largest size (Tenor) has a rich haunting sound with good volume. This ocarina is best for medium to large size hands.

Tenor (8" x 5"), Colors: Blue (#S4-BL), Brown (#S4-BR), $60.00.
